Registry of Kidney Exchange (paired donation) Program

The foundation has started a registry to facilitate the paired donation program wherein patients register their details and all efforts are made to find them suitable donors as an exchange.

What is paired donation?

If a family member cannot donate a kidney because of difference in blood group and if there is another pair with similar problem, the donors can be exchanged for the purpose of kidney transplantation. For example if Family 1 has a patient (recipient) with blood group B and potential family donor has blood Group A. Here the family member cannot donate the kidney because of difference in blood group. However if there is another family (Family 2) where the patient (recipient) has blood group A and potential family donor blood group B, the donor of Family 2 can donate kidney to the patient(recipient) of Family 1 and the donor of Family 1 can donate to recipient of family 2. Narmada Kidney Foundation plays an important role in this exchange program to help iron out issues and support both families through the entire process.
