Sing a Song!

Sing a Song!

“Now Nishith Bhai Doshi is coming to sing the next song! I get energized on hearing this announcement on stage. I forget everything and take entry on the stage to sing. I understand that singing is a special gift given to me by God. I remember those college days when in the annual gatherings, I used to sing and my friend actor Govinda used to dance on those songs. I started learning classical singing from Shree Chintamaniji Sohoni.

My business and hobby were going well. Only my blood pressure used to be a little high. When I did routine check-up in 2012, I found that my creatinine has increased up to 2. But I managed myself by controlling my diet. My creatinine was increasing but no symptoms were visible. Neither my feet were swollen, nor my food intake was reduced. During 2022 my creatinine reached 10. The doctor warned that as a precautionary measure, I should start dialysis or get a transplant done as early as possible to avoid any future complications.

I had decided that, what may come, I will not do dialysis. My wife was ready to donate me a kidney. But a problem was bothering both of us. My 28-year-old son is suffering from Cerebral Palsy. He cannot do anything by himself. Even one of us has to do his daily work. What will happen if both of us have to take rest for a long time? I used to get scared just thinking about it. At that time my 22-year-old daughter decided to take a few days leave from studies and come home from USA. All the relatives were also ready to help. I decided to get the transplant done. I got transplanted on 5th April 2022.

After 3-4 months of transplant, I started singing again. In the last six months, I sang in 3 programs. People appreciated my songs a lot. The best thing is that the transplant operation has not affected my voice quality in any way. That’s why I can sing well even at the age of 60. While singing on a stage, I forget my age and all my sorrows and pains!”
